I’ve been working with a friend of mine on cover art for his music, this is one of the many pieces I’ve done. I will post sets from each song in the coming weeks.
(low quality instagram shot for now)
Fear and Loathing | A painting of a particularly terrifying nightmare that I had a while ago.
I’m a person who gets very little sleep, but when I do sleep I have terrifying nightmares and dramatic or very weird dreams.
I’ve been wanting to paint this for a long time, and the idea has always been in the back of my mind. I took inspiration from one of my favourite artists Lesely Oldaker, who paints haunting scenes of ghostly figures.
The nightmare began by me waking up in my room, with a heavy feeling of hate filling the atmosphere. I sat up and saw three hooded figures stood in a circle, their backs to each other, all silently staring at the floor.
I customised an old pair of sun glasses today. They’re not finished yet though.
I used clear nail varnish (as it’s a fairly strong adhesive) to stick on rhinestones and studs.
It took three hours, 60 jet black swarovski crystals and a lot of patience. I will be putting more studs on the opposite side of the glasses and possibly ordering more crystals.
Eye, drawn with limited reference to the original photography.
Graphite and charcoal pencils: six hours.
The bottom colour pencil drawing is my first attempt using colour, it’s not perfect but I’m still very pleased with it.
